The Smart Cities Challenge was a pan-Canadian competition open to all municipalities, local or regional governments, and Indigenous communities (First Nations, Métis and Inuit).

Canada’s Smart Cities Challenge awarded $75 million to four communities—Montreal ($50M), Guelph-Wellington ($10M), Nunavut Communities ($10M), and Bridgewater, NS ($5M)—to use data and technology for innovative solutions that improve residents’ lives.
