Evergreen Brick Works Master Plan
Woven through century old heritage buildings and nestled in the Don Valley, Evergreen Brick Works is a leading example of adaptive reuse, brownfield remediation and ecological restoration. Operated by Evergreen, the Brick Works functions as a thriving community hub and demonstration site where the world can experience sustainable practices that enable flourishing cities of the future.
After nearly ten years in operation, Evergreen is revisiting the use of the site and the experience being offered to the public. Through a unique participatory process, we aim to reignite the public’s imagination and transform the site to make it a low carbon, sustainable and inclusive space for all.
About the participatory planning process
Evergreen is working with LGA Architectural Partners, PLANT Architects and PROCESS to plot the roadmap for visioning and planning the future of the Brick Works. From now until the new year, a team of architects, urban planners, designers and artists, will lead extensive public engagement, site analysis of built structures and public spaces, as well as prototyping and piloting ideas for change.
It will identify best uses for public spaces and buildings on site that are currently un-used or underutilized, opportunities to advance holistic sustainability ideas, and strategies to better connect the space within and above the ravine system.
We look forward to working with you to shape Evergreen Brick Works as a place we all belong and a leader in placemaking.
The final plan will be presented to the public in early 2020.
